Celebrate Independence Day with a light and refreshing fruit salad!
Red, White, and Blue Fruit Salad
ingredients
1 pound strawberries
1 ct 1-pint blueberries and
1 pint of raspberries
1 ct seedless watermelon- cut up
3 ct apples
3 ct Tablespoons lime juice -divided
1 ct Tablespoon light brown sugar
1 ct pinch salt
Directions
:
Cut off strawberry tops and cut them in half. Add to a large bowl.
Add washed blueberries, raspberries, and cut-up watermelon to the large bowl.
Peel apples. Slice into rounds. Use a star cookie cutter to core and cut apple slices. Repeat until all apples are used. Soak in 2 tbsp. lime juice and 1 cup of water to prevent browning. Let soak for 5 mins. When done, add apples to the large bowl.
Make the dressing by combining 1 tbsp lime juice, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl.
Pour the dressing over the fruit and toss to coat. Garnish with lime zest if desired. Serve.
